Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" Certified Platinum In The U.S.A.
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) "Call Me Maybe," the debut U.S. single from Schoolboy Records/Interscope recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen, has been certified platinum in the U.S. by the R.I.A.A., selling 1.2 million singles. Certified triple-platinum in Jepsen's native Canada (where it also hit No. 1), the track is also an international sensation, climbing to No. 1 in the iTunes Singles charts in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Norway. It has already cracked the top 5 on the U.S. iTunes chart and is currently No. 3 on the Pop chart.

The irresistibly catchy "Call Me Maybe," which Jepsen co-wrote, began to climb the iTunes Singles chart after Justin Bieber tweeted about the song to his 17.5 million followers in February. It received an additional boost after Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and other young stars filmed themselves lip-synching and dancing to the song and posted the video on Big Time Rush actor and singer Carlos Pena's YouTube Channel, where it racked up a million views in 24 hours and became a trending topic on Twitter. It has now earned more than 34 million views, while the official video has attracted 30.5 million views. The Bieber and friends' clip has inspired other stars get in on the action. Katy Perry, actor James Franco, YouTube twins Megan and Liz, and family band Cimorelli have all posted their own versions of "Call Me Maybe."

Since the single's rising success, Jepsen has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (introduced by Bieber), Good Morning America, The View, performed the National Anthem at a sold-out Dodgers game, "... and drawn thousands of fans to her first U.S. show headlining the "Music Spotlight" series at 5 Towers concert venue on Universal CityWalk."

Jepsen may be a newcomer in the U.S., but the Mission, British Columbia, native is an established artist in Canada where she placed third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol and landed a record deal with Fontana/Maple Music. She has scored two previous gold singles and received numerous awards and accolades, including 2010 Juno Award nominations for "Songwriter of the Year" and "Best New Artist" as well as a 2010 MuchMusic Video Award nomination for "UR Fave New Artist." She has sold more than 200,000 singles in her home country and is signed to 604 Records in Canada.
