New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ DaSBro Enterprise) Long Island, New York-based band The Penguin Revolution recently filmed a music video for their song, 'Jamanji Crib,' a track from their "Reign of the Peng" album (available at iTunes, Amazon, and live performances).
Since the start of 2005, The Penguin Revolution has launched their music on the New York metropolitan area, building a strong and loyal following. The band's music tells the tale of an angry Penguin (Oscar Hamilton) seeking world domination which is the Penguin Revolution. Each song tells a part of the tale.
Jumping seamlessly between rock, funk, ska and reggae, sometimes all in one song, The Penguin Revolution's music draws influences from a plethora of artists and genres spanning decades. The band's seven musical minds all come from diverse musical backgrounds, including jazz, rock, heavy metal, electronic, funk, good old fashioned R&B, and a healthy serving of ska. In addition to guitar, bass and drums the ensemble includes trumpet, alto sax and trombone... and didgeridoo! The result is a unique and upbeat sound that never fails to draw a crowd, please a crowd.
'Jamanji Crib' is a song about a guy coming home and finding that his house has been taking over by animals. The angry guy goes from room to room trying to oust the animals, but the guy gets taken captive by the animals. The video for 'Jamanji Crib' was filmed and directed by Jared Cohen (Trap Light Media) over a two day period in the small town of Point Lookout on Long Island. The Penguin Revolution, taking the meaning of the song, as well as their love for pirates, roller chicks (played by several members of the Long Island professional roller derby team, the Long Island Roller Rebels,) and extreme originality, came up with this entertaining, fun-filled, and wacky video. The Penguin Revolution has performed at numerous venues in Manhattan and Long Island, playing to packed houses at the Bitter End, Knitting Factory, Blender Theater, Irving Plaza, and more. During live performances the band is joined onstage by a human-sized Penguin who jumps into the audience to dance with the crowd.
