Mimi Betinis' Debut Solo Release 'all That Glitters' Drops February 15; Set To Outshine The Competition
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ ISL Public Relations) The saying goes: "All that glitters is not gold," but in this case, we believe we've got a sparkling jewel. With the release of "All That Glitters," Chicago-based singer/songwriter MIMI BETINIS has created a shining example of a debut solo CD. Released nationally today (2/15/11), the album showcases BETINIS' sterling abilities as a musician, songwriter, and singer. But that's not all! BETINIS is also a gifted visual artist and created the collage for his CD cover.

"You can see a whole array of shining baubles and mysteriously lustrous images," he explains. "It's my vision of what it would look like if I opened my personal Pandora's Box of treasures."

And what a treasure "All That Glitters" is! The album kicks off with lead track "Love Is Just A Thin Veneer," and is followed by nine other self-penned stories of romance and love found and lost. At the end of the musical journey is BETINIS' beautiful rendition of "Across The Universe," recorded as an homage to John Lennon in honor of what would have been his 70th birthday.

It was in the late 1970s that BETINIS had his first taste of rock stardom. As lead singer and guitarist for the original power-pop group Pezband, BETINIS enjoyed the success of single releases and extensive touring. His group was one of the first to record a live EP at London's famed venue Dingwall's. When Jane Pauley did a story on "The Today Show" about the emergence of this new musical form, it was Pezband that was used to exemplify the power pop sound.

The band had a successful run and, when their record label went belly up, BETINIS moved his focus to his other love - art. He taught art in the Chicago public school system as his family expanded and his young children were growing up. Now that his brood is no longer of such a tender age, BETINIS has once again found his way to his other love - music - and has polished his songs to a fine luster on "All That Glitters."

"All That Glitters" was produced by Stan Skora for AEAA Records.
