New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ William Fitzsimmons Official Website) - Acclaimed singer/songwriter William Fitzsimmons has confirmed a major U.S. Summer tour to follow the June 8th brick-and-mortar release of his remix CD, 'Derivatives'. On the new album (Mercer Street/Downtown Records, distributed to Independent Record Stores nationwide via Junketboy,) Fitzsimmons' hushed gem 'The Sparrow and the Crow' gets an electronic makeover. From trippy reimaginings of 'I Don't Feel It Anymore' and 'If You Would Come Back Home' to a lush arrangement of 'You Still Hurt Me', featuring the accompaniment of a High School choir, to a twisted cover of 'I Kissed A Girl', 'Derivatives' showcases Fitzsimmons' irreverence and willingness to experiment, as well as the strength of his original songs, which stand up well to their new surroundings.

'The Sparrow And The Crow', a stunning album which chronicled the end of Fitzsimmons' marriage, earned rave reviews upon its release and ended up as iTunes' 'Best Singer- Songwriter Album 2009'. As a 'Derivatives' bonus, fans are invited inside William's European tour for 'Sparrow', as he recalls his unconventional life in the documentary 'Finding Home': A short film that follows former psychotherapist turned indie folk sensation William Fitzsimmons, as he explores his childhood with two blind parents, his parents' divorce and ultimately the demise of his own marriage. With his European tour as the visual backdrop and his music as the score, William discusses the commonalities in our humanity and explores the importance of love, relationships, and commitment and how they fit in our current short attention span culture. More about William Fitzsimmons:
William Fitzsimmons is one of the more intriguing people you will ever meet. Born the youngest child of two blind parents, William was raised in the outskirts of the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His path into music was equally as atypical as his upbringing, forsaking music for many years to work with the mentally ill and pursue an education in the field of mental health.
After finally achieving his goal of becoming a practicing therapist, William left, and returned again to his love of crafting and playing songs.
Somewhere between a singing therapist, and a counselor who writes songs, is where Fitzsimmons endeavors to be - using songs to address matters which he believes are in potent need of being attended to.

He is often compared to contemporaries Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, and the late Elliott Smith, not only for his unique style and skill in writing and proclivity to deal with substantive and evocative subject matter, but also for his use of sophisticated melodies and arrangements. While his lyricism deals often with darker undertones, such as his own divorce, a measure of hopefulness is usually present as well. His albums have received coverage in The Wall Street Journal, NPR, The Washington Post, Boston Globe, Sing Out Magazine, Billboard and elsewhere, and iTunes named The Sparrow and The Crow their 2009 Best Singer-Songwriter Album in the US and Australia. He has toured extensively throughout the U.S, U.K. and Europe. William's most recent release, Derivatives is a multicolored reimagining of several prominent tracks off of The Sparrow and the Crow
