SAN ANTONIO, TX. (Top40 Charts/ Jeanne Albrecht) - "A Night In Old San Antonio (NIOSA)," one of the nations largest historic preservation festivals, announces its exceptional entertainment lineup for 2010 and the return of nearly all of NIOSA favorites from last years presentation, including local favorites such as the Mo-Dels, the Cone Sisters and Small World. Slated for April 20-23, 2010, NIOSA features 17 acts from almost every major musical genre, reflecting the events dedication to the celebration of cultural diversity.
After producing this event for 60 years, we know that many people come to NIOSA year after year for the entertainment�and we dont want to mess with success, so our favorite performers are coming back this year, says Nancy Avellar, Chairman, A Night In Old San Antonio. In fact, many of our performers-like The Mo-Dels, Lonesome Louie, Bobby Baker & the Longnecks, and Ballet Folklorico-have been with us since the 1980s. However, Bene Medina and his popular conjunto band win the prize for performing at NIOSA for 42 straight years!
At this time, all that is needed is a traditional German Oompah/polka band for the Sauerkraut Bend area, Avellar adds.
Kicking off the celebration this year will be a short opening parade at 5:30 p.m. which winds throughout La Villita, and includes many local, state and national civic leaders, as well as members of Fiesta royalty such as Rey Feo and King Antonio.

NIOSA is a four-night event spread over five acres that celebrates San Antonios diverse cultural heritage through food, music, games, decorations and dance for more than 80,000 revelers. Through the magic of more than 250 food, drink and atmosphere booths, more than 20 live musical acts, decorations, costumed volunteers, collectibles, party goers and cascarones, NIOSA brings the citys heritage alive in 15 areas (Arneson Theatre, Chinatown, Clown Alley, French Quarter, Froggy Bottom, Frontier Town, Haymarket, International Walkway, Irish Flat, Main Street USA, Mexican Market, Mission Trail, Sauerkraut Bend, South of the Border and Villa Espan~a). It is held on the grounds of the La Villita National Historic District-the 18th century Spanish neighborhood set on the banks of the San Antonio River in the heart of downtown San Antonio.
Tuesday through Friday, April 20-23, 2010, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Even though the gates close and alcohol beverage sales stop at 10 p.m. nightly, food sales and entertainment continue until 10:30 p.m.
