New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Global Brand Media) - For anyone familiar with Incubus, it's difficult to measure what means more this week to the Southern California based quintet - the throngs of fans who assembled Monday evening outside an Echo Park, California club and into the streets in droves in order to gain entrance to an only hours-before-announced performance by the band. Or, that Incubus' newly released, MONUMENTS AND MELODIES, a two-disc "Greatest" Greatest Hits set that charted in at the No 5 position on the Billboard Top 200.

The fact is it may never be clear to a band that looks away from this sort of attention as much and they attract it. It's this back and forth dichotomy that makes Incubus so compelling to fans and complex to those who know them. Incubus has made as many new rules as they have broken in their now decade plus existence.

When fans expect it - Incubus consistently delivers, and in this case it's a compelling career retrospective album with plenty of additional value. When pundits question the wide swath of influence the band has created over the course of their career - the band confounds them with a chart debut so spectacular - each and every one is forced to take notice.

But like all things in Incubus' world, accolades play second fiddle to the attention they receive from some of the most devoted, compassionate and knowledgeable fans in music today. The fans that came to see their favorite band perform rare songs from their deep catalog on Monday are the same fans that purchased MONUMENTS AND MELODIES, propelling it to the number 5 position. The band's last studio album 'Light Grenades' debuted at No 1 on Billboard's Top 200, making it the highest charting album debut of the their career. This debut marks the band's fourth straight Top 10 Album on the Billboard Top 200.

MONUMENTS AND MELODIES includes a digital treasure trove, known as The Vault which includes over 500 pieces of Incubus material including over 100 rare or unreleased mp3s, live versions of songs spanning their career, as well as bonus studio tracks previously unavailable. If that isn't enough to satisfy the most die-hard Incubus follower, there is a collection of never before seen images of the band, concert posters and more. Many of the still images were taken by the band members themselves and are from their private collections (fans that purchase physical copies of MONUMENTS AND MELODIES will be provided a unique code that can be used to upgrade their user account at www.enjoyincubus.com, and allow them to download all of this incredible Incubus material at no cost).

Monday's club show served as a sneak preview of sorts for the band's 'Monuments and Melodies Summer Tour' which will officially kick off July 9th at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in San Diego, CA. The band is digging deep into its catalog for these dates and will be performing songs that fans have not heard live in quite some time and in some instances never before. The summer long trek will cover 31 major cities across the U.S. and Canada, including sold out dates at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on and two nights at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
