LONDON, UK (News Of The World) - Westlife star Shane Filan is to marry girlfriend Gillian Walsh.
The pair got engaged on holiday two weeks ago but didn't tell their parents until Christmas Day. They flew to Dubai on doctors' orders, where Shane, who is suffering from glandular fever, popped the question.

Fellow bandmate Nicky Byrne recently announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend Georgina Ahern - the daughter of Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.

Shane, who has been dating Gillian for two years, told the News Of The World: "It was like having 50 number one records all in one go.
"We had dinner at the Royal Meridian hotel where we were staying, then went for a walk on the beach. We were lying on some deckchairs and Gillian was saying how amazing the stars looked, so I pulled out the ring and said, "What do you think of this star?"
"She grabbed it off me, then I went down on one knee and said "Will you marry me?" Gillian screamed, said yes and started crying, hugging and kissing me."

Shane added: "Two Westlife weddings next year and a tour is gonna be crazy. But the band will not be splitting up. Getting married won't change Westlife's outlook."
