DENVER, CO. (Top40 Charts/ Gabrielle Louise Official Website) - Singer/songwriter Gabrielle Louise has released a new single, 'Save the Arkansas,' that seeks to bring awareness to a dire environmental situation that is threatening the health and safety of the Arkansas River basin. A massive campaign, including an open petition, is underway to force a proper Federal response to this potential catastrophe at savethearkansasriver.org.

The song, "Save the Arkansas," warns President Bush and members of the U.S. Congress of an imminent toxic mine pool blowout in Leadville. The impending release of up to 1-and-a-half billion gallons of poisonous waters from Prospect Mountain and the surrounding mining district could force the evacuation of local residents and lay waste to the region's wildlife and ecosystem. The headline in the New York Times on February 28, 2008 read, "Mine Water Poses Danger of a Toxic Gusher."

Gabrielle Louise unveiled the song on March 1st, before an audience of over 600 on Saturday night, when she opened for legendary songwriter Guy Clark at his Swallow Hill concert in Denver. "Save the Arkansas" is now available for download at gabriellelouise.com and savethearkansasriver.org. The singer/songwriter is currently meeting with Colorado politicians to share her story about life on the river and the vibrant tourist economy it supports.

Gabrielle Louise is a nationally touring artist noted for her poignant lyrics (a two-time John Lennon Songwriting Contest finalist, winner of the Jack Maher Songwriting Award) and astonishing vocals. She felt compelled to write "Save the Arkansas" because she grew up, and worked as a guide, on the Arkansas River, a source of imagery and inspiration in her earlier songwriting.

Gabrielle Louise is a performer, who like many other socially-conscious musicians, has made a commitment towards peace and the environment through music. She was recently asked by the Willie Nelson Peace Institute to cover Nelson's 'Peaceful Solution,' which is now posted at www.willienelsonpri.com. In addition, Gabrielle has just started the first Artist's Alternative Fueling Network, a networking hub for artists supporting alternative fuel. www.musicooling.com

It is also located at www.gabriellelouise.com under music, and will immediately start to play upon entering the website. A full press kit is available under the link 'Press Kit'.
