London's Rising Star Ladybyrd Releases Captivating New Single 'Kissing Undercover'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Following her acclaim as Sunday Times Culture's "Breaking Act," the London-based singer-songwriter Ladybyrd is set to release her captivating new single, 'Kissing Undercover', on the 21st of June. Marked as the third single from her forthcoming debut album, it features the talents of Rudimental drummer Beanie.

Capturing the heartache and turmoil of a secret relationship, 'Kissing Undercover' weaves the tale of sleepless nights, hidden love, and the longing for the simplicity of romance. Ladybyrd's introspective lyrics and infectious melodies paint a vivid picture of idealised love often only portrayed in cinema. Fast-paced and passionate, it shows off some of her best songwriting to date. Regularly compared to the likes of Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift, Ladybyrd's work stands strong on its own, offering something entirely unique.

On the release, Ladybird notes, "'Kissing Undercover' is a super fun track - it's the first song I wrote for my album. I wanted to make music that reflected the struggles I had been through over the last two years, and I wanted the production to be bold, moving and cinematic. Each track on the album narrates a distinct story or captures a fragment of a broader one, all within a cinematic pop soundscape that I hope will engage listeners, connect with them and move them on a personal level. I'm excited to share it with you, it's finally time."

The single also comes paired with another magnetic video that shows Ladybyrd singing in an empty cinema. With vintage cinematography showing off a dazzling dress, it's a visual experience that perfectly complements the song's themes of hidden love and longing. Ladybyrd's latest video helps showcase her transition from a "breaking act" to a rising star.

Previous singles have set the stage for her debut album with impressive critical acclaim. 'Open Cage' is a heartfelt exploration of the emotional struggles within a troubled relationship, while 'Way Back Home' introduced listeners to the enthralling nature of her anticipated new music. Both tracks have received praise from Record Of The Day, Wonderland, Clash, and Notion, and led to her recognition as Sunday Times Culture's "Breaking Act". Earlier releases like 'Too Close To Call', 'Sub Zero', and 'Every Second' further showcased Ladybyrd's spellbinding talent, earning her a place as one of BBC Introducing's "outstanding newcomers" of 2022. Ladybyrd and her songwriting is being discovered and she's growing her fan base from her Taylor Swift re-writes going viral on TikTok and Instagram.

Originally from Buckinghamshire, Ladybyrd's music journey led her to London, grasping each opportunity that came her way. Defining her aesthetic in the process, the singer has modelled for catwalks and editorial shoots including a role with Louis Vuitton. Most notably, a chance encounter with legendary film star Tom Cruise led to a discussion on her love for the film scores that originally influenced her songwriting. This resulted in a collaboration with the Mission Impossible composer on vocals for an upcoming TV series.

After a month spent in LA, Ladybyrd also met with several film composers. Among them was Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, Narnia, X-Men, Chicken Run, Phone Booth, Flushed Away). Speaking on the meeting, Ladybyrd shared: "Harry invited me to his studio and gave me advice on orchestration. I had to pinch myself. I grew up listening to his scores, especially The Chronicles of Narnia. The experience was hugely inspiring."

Ladybyrd's music is a magnetic reflection of the singer's transformative journey over the past two years. From navigating life as an anxious teenage girl to facing battles with insomnia, mental health, and complex relationships, Ladybyrd's songwriting is an empowering voyage of personal growth, exploring themes of self-discovery through heartfelt, relatable lyrics. These upcoming releases are destined to enchant an ever-growing audience, showcasing the magnitude of Ladybyrd's craft.

Marking the beginning of a promising career, Ladybyrd's talents have been elevated through live performances supporting Tom Speight at Islington Assembly Hall and for BBC Introducing. With her signature multifaceted style and unique talent, Ladybyrd's star quality is set to enchant the pop landscape and beyond.
