Vesper Wood Announces Solo Debut Album Out 3/1
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Florida-based indie folk singer-songwriter Vesper Wood, the solo project of Christina Wood, announces her solo debut album Instar slated for release on March 1st. In anticipation, she also shares new single "Descend" with PopMatters. One half of the UK electro-pop duo Kaleida, Instar is Wood's first endeavor as a solo artist and was fueled and inspired by her own profound experiences with her reproductive health. About the new single, she comments: "It's a very emotional track, very watery, about feeling drowned in the conviction of love".

Originally from Kentucky via Germany and London, Wood's elegiac voice was first heard by millions when Kaleida's sublime song "Think" was featured as the highlight soundtrack to John Wick. Other Kaleida tracks found similar fame on films/shows such as Atomic Blonde and CSI before their breathtaking album Tear The Roots was released to critical acclaim in 2017. As part of Kaleida, Wood has amassed over 45 million streams to date across platforms and has toured the world with the likes of Roisin Murphy and Alt-J.

Recorded in Bristol, UK with producer Ali Chant (Perfume Genius, Aldous Harding, Soccer Mommy, Jenny Hval), Instar features a gossamer touch that makes Vesper Wood's organic and atmospheric sound all the more arresting. With keys, strings, and her vocals at the forefront, there's a vulnerability and fragility that echoes through these recordings with such conviction that they could never be considered a weakness. While the nine track collection touches on themes of longing, sadness, and frustration Instarultimately follows Wood's journey to finding peace, hope, and strength, honing in on what it means to be a woman. Some songs helped Wood process problems she was encountering with her reproductive health, biological clock, lack of support and awareness of women's health issues, and inherent sexism in our society. The result is an emotional, stark, and organic LP that seems to radiate a healing feminine spirit. As her first solo project, the album is her most raw, honest, authentic work to date.
