Bad Gyal Teams Up With Govana For New Dancehall Track
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) A viral sensation and one of the hottest talents to emerge from the Iberian peninsula, Barcelona-born vocalist Bad Gyal has cemented her rise to the summit of the new alternative urban music sound. Her cover of Rihanna's "Work," which she named "Pai," made her a household name, enhanced by the success of her full-length mixtape,Slow Wine in 2016, and the news that Fact Magazine had named her track "Jacaranda" as the #1 single of 2017. Lauded internationally for her breakout hit "Fiebre," Bad Gyal set off on a global tour that culminated in a knockout performance at this year's Primavera Sound in Spain.

It's only fitting, then, that such a celebrated young talent joins forces with another global music phenom. Her voice and musical ability find an able match in Govana, mentee of dancehall titan and lyricist Aidonia and one of the fastest rising names to come out of Jamaica. "Run Road," his 2012 collaboration with his mentor Aidonia, earned Govana a slot at the top of the music charts and a permanent name among dancehall fans around the world - a reputation that's only continued to grow with each new release.

Today they released their stellar collaboration, "Open The Door" at Rolling Stone, and it is proof that magic happens when two visionary heavyweights from vastly different musical backgrounds set to work in the studio. "Open The Door" is the kind of dark, sultry dancehall jam that brings enough intensity to keep listeners 'whining' on the dance floor all night long. A joint release with Pop Style Music and tastemaker label AFTERCLUV, the single comes accompanied by a music video that takes viewers on a seductive journey through the gritty streets, lush natural scenes, and dark, thrilling club scene of Jamaica. Pre-order the new track here.

Check out what Rolling Stone is hailing, ""Open The Door," a propulsive marvel featuring Bad Gyal, a Spanish-Catalan singer known for her dancehall influences, and Govana, a rising Jamaican singer.... a glinting vamp on steel drums, a crunching beat and a piano-heavy bridge that hints at a left-turn into salsa."

Bad Gyal is one of the most interesting artists in the music industry, despite her recent arrival. She's put out some of the hottest tracks of Spain's urban music scene like "Fiebre," "Jacaranda," "Candela" and "Internationally," and she's released two globally acclaimed mixtapes: Slow Wine (2016) and Worldwide Angel (2018).

She has worked with notable producers like Dubbel Dutch, Jam City, El Guincho, DJ Florentino, Cadenza, Paul Marmota, D33J and her partner in crime FakeGuido(producer and live DJ) with whom she's toured Europe, Mexico and the USA several times. Her music has garnered critical acclaim by some of the greatest tend setting magazines such as Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The FADER, Fact Magazine and The Guardian, and they've all come to the same conclusion: her sound is shaping the future of music.
